A small e-commerce store with a normal catalogue and steady traffic usually needs a modest hosting plan; storage is driven by product images and bandwidth by how many people visit and how heavy each page is. The plans below show how we size hosting, but the same thinking works with any host.

Storage: mostly your product photos

The site’s code is small. Product images, videos and backups take the space. A store with a few hundred products and several photos each can fill a few gigabytes. Compress images properly before uploading, and remember that more colours and angles mean more files.

Bandwidth: visitors multiplied by page weight

Bandwidth is the data sent to visitors each month. A simple way to estimate it: pages viewed per month × average page size. For example, if a visit downloads about 2 MB and you get 1,000 visits a day, that is roughly 2 GB a day, or about 60 GB a month. Treat this as an example, not a promise: your real numbers depend on your pages and images.

Plan for campaign spikes

A Facebook Ads campaign, an Eid sale or a viral reel can multiply visits for a few days. Size hosting for your busiest weeks, not your quietest ones, or choose a plan you can upgrade quickly.

Things that matter as much as size

  • Backups: daily or regular backups stored away from the server, and a tested way to restore them.
  • Speed: a fast server location and light pages keep mobile customers from leaving.
  • Security and updates: WordPress, WooCommerce and plugins need regular updates.
  • Ownership: the hosting account should be in your name, whoever manages it.

When to upgrade

Consider a larger plan when pages slow down at busy times, you are close to your storage or bandwidth limit, or you add many more products or videos. Upgrading is normally a simple move to a larger allocation.
